Not new to gambling, but very new to "capping a game". Is there any help out there? This might be a dumb question but do you cap an NBA game different than an NFL game, or MLB game, or NCAABB game, or and NCAAFB game. Could anybody shed any light on how they cap a game or is this "top secret" info.

Just found out about the site over the xmas holidays (my cousin is a lurker) and seems to be some very strong cappers in the entire forum. Was really looking strong in the NBA forum and seems alot of people follow tate and zapster.

Any info would be appreciated,

Thanks for the time

Richva........A good way to start is by making your own pointspreads before you see the posted lines. This will take some practice but eventually you will get better at it. I usually work on the next NFL week during the Sun night game. I do the next day NBA after the last game goes final. Once you get that done, you will have a base # to use as a reference point. But you must wait until you are consistently close to the actual lines.
Next you will need to develop a handicapping method that takes advantage of you ability to do this. The best way to come up with one is trial and error using mock or practice bets.
It's best to start off with a division or conference that you are comfortable with. Concentrate on the handful of teams that you know in the sport that you know.
Keep good notes, do your homework, and eventually you will figure out what you're good at. Practice, practice, and more practice!
Be open-minded and experiment often!

Good Luck

Money management is Imperative,,, never chase a loss,,, only be 2% of your bankroll at a time,,
find a capper or 2 that you like in the sport you like,,, then read their threads,,, and engage them in discussion,,, this is the only way to learn,,, follow the people that are successful,,,
good luck,,

only way to learn is to do it. Start playing small and learn as you go. Everyone has their own strategy, and you need to find what you're comfortable with.

My suggestions for beginners:

1. Learn your money managament. Start by betting the same amount on every game, 1-2% of bankroll tops. Have some self control and don't bet every game that is on TV.

2. Hopefully you can open up accounts with a few shops to take advantage of bonuses and line shopping. Getting the best line on the game, taking bonuses, and practicing correct money management will allow you to stay in the game a long time without going broke.

3. Find some cappers who are doing well and follow their picks. See why they are betting the teams they are.

good luck

TAKE IT SLOW AT FIRST. THIS IS SERIOUS SHIT. YOU CAN RUIN YOURSELF PRETTY FAST IF YOUR NOT CAREFUL. THIS CAN BE VERY FUN OR VERY MISERABLE. I WOULD CAP SOME GAMES FOR FUN AT FIRST. AFTER AWHILE YOU WILL GET MORE COMFORTABLE WITH IT. YOU WILL DEVELOP YOUR OWN STYLE AND METHODS. ALSO TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS. DONT PLAY A GAME JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE LIKES IT. CHECK IT OUT YUORSELF FIRST. BE CAREFUL AND HOPE TO SEE "YOUR" PICKS SOON.

I agree with mr.obvious. Take it easy, it gets very easy to start taking games that look really good. The most successful handicappers take the fun out of it. If you don't your just a fan who loses alot of money.

My advice is only play teams you know well. Watch the games, follow teams. Get to know things well. Email us if you want some more tips. Thanks

EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT IN THEIR APPROACH. I USUALLY PLAY BETWEEN 3-5 GAMES EACH DAY AND DO ALL MY HANDICAPPING IN ABOUT 30 MINUTES. I BASE A LOT OF MY PICKS ON WHATS IN MY HEAD. I MAKE MY PICKS THEN I GO TO THE FORUM AND MAYBE ANOTHER SITE OR TWO AND CHECK MY PICKS AGAINST THEIRS. IF THEY DIFFER FROM MINE I MAY GO BACK AND RE-LOOK AT MY GAMES, BUT I NEVER CHANGE MY MIND AND PLAY OPPOSITE. I HAVE BEFORE NOT PLAYED THE GAME(NOT OFTEN). I MAY CHANGE MY AMOUNT, BUT NEVER MY OPINION. I HAVE NOT HAD A LOSING YEAR IN OVER 15 YEARS(FOOTBALL OR BASKETBALL). WHEN I FIRST STARTED GAMBLING I LISTENED TO EVERYONE AND CHANGED MY MIND OFTEN AND IT SEEMED LIKED I LOST EVERY YEAR. IT TAKES AWHILE TO GET A FEEL FOR THIS. JUST TAKE IT EASY AND SLOW AT FIRST AND HAVE FUN. SET YOURSELF UP A MONEY-MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND NEVER, NEVER CHANGE IT BECAUSE YOUR LOSING OR BECAUSE YOUR WINNING. DISCIPLINE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT WORD IN GAMBLING. IN MY OPINION IF YOU DONT HAVE DISCIPLINE IN YOUR GAMBLING YOUR PLAYING WITH A LIVE GRENADE. IT WILL EVENTUALLY BLOW UP IN YOUR FACE. SOME PEOPLE SAY PICK A COUPLE OF CAPPERS OUT AND FOLLOW THEM. DONT JUST FOLLOW THEM. CHECK OUT THEIR GAMES FOR YOURSELF. TRY TO SEE WHY THEY LIKE THEM. IF YOU DONT SEE IT DONT PLAY IT. TRUST YOUR OWN INSTINCTS. HOPE THIS HELPS. GOOD LUCK.
